clean up
Today is going to be a quiet day, but an active one. Working on 6 sites today, can't stay here long and write all I want.
I did want to cover the previous post - last night B and I had a date night. Not my idea in the begining of a date night, but since he took off time from work and we don't go out often, you take what you can get.
One of his friends from his old job place was having a birthday party and she is known for "parties". Everyone likes to hang out at her place and just get trashed. I haven't been to a drinking party in months, I think the last one was a year. So I felt a little old, since most of her parties were always at a time that we could not afford a baby-sitter, I stayed home while B went so I did not know any of these people. They were nice and I eventually got to meet everyone and became one of many tipsy, voice a little louder, giggling drinkers. Me on my 2 bottles of wine, what a lush... it was fun.
What was so sad about the whole thing was that I think a total of 15 - 20 people were there, all of them had worked at Rhythms before the company went bankrupt and everyone was laid off. Not everyone has seen everyone in the past year, so it was a major "catch-up" on what they were doing.. some had to go into construction to help pay the bills. Others became security guards or stayed with the company that bought the bankrupt company (can we say worldcom?) and then a bunch went to Qwest (can we say Enron Jr.?) and that too was another round of lay-offs and I was able to add my 2 cents on that company. It was so strange to hear everyone say such good things of the 1st company and how much fun they had working as a team and now everyone is so far apart in different jobs.
One husband brought his wife and she is a massage specialist.. so she had all the women sitting in front of her telling her what their aches and then she gave massages to that area. I got my hands done. But I was too drunk to really notice the effect.. but at the time it really did feel good. I gave her a free lipstick for her sweetness.. being at a party and giving out massages for nothing.
B did pretty good.. had a few beers, a few shots and we both ate the munchies like it was going out of style. I had the bottles of wine and after a bit.. I can now see where Clayton's smiles came from on his night out.. the drinks are warming the body, food in the tummy, a buzz going on.. ya just feel so good! :) We called it an early night.. left at midnight and asleep by 1am. I'm such a dweeb.
Had 1 of 7 Open Houses this morning and recieved a $40 order for Christmas products. That was a hightlight. I'm now so glad that I did not sign up for the MK training that is going on downtown today.. it would have been hell on me with the hangover. I'm doing better now, after much needed sleep and Tylenol. ;)
I'm saving the best for last. Yesterday while at work, I check my email and there was a posting for a job in Reno NV. I've never been there and not sure what to expect, but at this time, anything that offers benefits, full time and a great pay, with a better economy then Denver.. has got to be a plus for us. I submitted my resume, but like most out-of-town jobs.. since I'm not there, I rarely get a call. Dallas, New Orleans, Las Vegas and Phoenix have totally snubbed me lately. Not Reno! I got a call from the recruiter that afternoon and she wants to do a phone interview on Tues. I'm pretty pumped about that, even if I don't get the job. I think tomorrow if things are quiet (another Open House) - I'll hit the job boards and online newspapers and apply to some more out of town jobs.
