Open House

My open house layout ~

clean up

Today is going to be a quiet day, but an active one. Working on 6 sites today, can't stay here long and write all I want.

I did want to cover the previous post - last night B and I had a date night. Not my idea in the begining of a date night, but since he took off time from work and we don't go out often, you take what you can get.

One of his friends from his old job place was having a birthday party and she is known for "parties". Everyone likes to hang out at her place and just get trashed. I haven't been to a drinking party in months, I think the last one was a year. So I felt a little old, since most of her parties were always at a time that we could not afford a baby-sitter, I stayed home while B went so I did not know any of these people. They were nice and I eventually got to meet everyone and became one of many tipsy, voice a little louder, giggling drinkers. Me on my 2 bottles of wine, what a lush... it was fun.

What was so sad about the whole thing was that I think a total of 15 - 20 people were there, all of them had worked at Rhythms before the company went bankrupt and everyone was laid off. Not everyone has seen everyone in the past year, so it was a major "catch-up" on what they were doing.. some had to go into construction to help pay the bills. Others became security guards or stayed with the company that bought the bankrupt company (can we say worldcom?) and then a bunch went to Qwest (can we say Enron Jr.?) and that too was another round of lay-offs and I was able to add my 2 cents on that company. It was so strange to hear everyone say such good things of the 1st company and how much fun they had working as a team and now everyone is so far apart in different jobs.

One husband brought his wife and she is a massage specialist.. so she had all the women sitting in front of her telling her what their aches and then she gave massages to that area. I got my hands done. But I was too drunk to really notice the effect.. but at the time it really did feel good. I gave her a free lipstick for her sweetness.. being at a party and giving out massages for nothing.

B did pretty good.. had a few beers, a few shots and we both ate the munchies like it was going out of style. I had the bottles of wine and after a bit.. I can now see where Clayton's smiles came from on his night out.. the drinks are warming the body, food in the tummy, a buzz going on.. ya just feel so good! :) We called it an early night.. left at midnight and asleep by 1am. I'm such a dweeb.

Had 1 of 7 Open Houses this morning and recieved a $40 order for Christmas products. That was a hightlight. I'm now so glad that I did not sign up for the MK training that is going on downtown today.. it would have been hell on me with the hangover. I'm doing better now, after much needed sleep and Tylenol. ;)

I'm saving the best for last. Yesterday while at work, I check my email and there was a posting for a job in Reno NV. I've never been there and not sure what to expect, but at this time, anything that offers benefits, full time and a great pay, with a better economy then Denver.. has got to be a plus for us. I submitted my resume, but like most out-of-town jobs.. since I'm not there, I rarely get a call. Dallas, New Orleans, Las Vegas and Phoenix have totally snubbed me lately. Not Reno! I got a call from the recruiter that afternoon and she wants to do a phone interview on Tues. I'm pretty pumped about that, even if I don't get the job. I think tomorrow if things are quiet (another Open House) - I'll hit the job boards and online newspapers and apply to some more out of town jobs.
shhhhhh

Don't pound the keyboard so hard.. more later.

ER

I just realized I missed ER tonight. What the hell was I thinking???

Slightly off topic, in honor of Halloween:

Courtesy of a slightly misquoted Shakespeare and the Scottish play.

Bubble, bubble As in bubble bath. What's your favorite way to relax? A good chic flic with some popcorn. Or a movie.

Toil What's your least favorite chore, and why? Cleaning house in general

and Trouble What do you get into trouble for around the house? Not doing my part of the chores or logging my receipts for spending into Quicken.

How about you? Play along and post your answers in your own space, then leave a comment here so we can find you!

LAUGH

“Laughter is a direct route to the soul. It broadens your perspective, keeps you healthy, and makes an unbearable situation easier to deal with,” says Joel Goodman, Ed.D., director of The Humor Project, Inc. in Saratoga Springs, New York. Learn a few jokes to tell your kids, hang up your favorite cartoons or call an old friend and relive a funny moment you’ve shared.

I haven't laughed in awhile. Not a good hearty chuckle that just roars from the belly. Talking to my sister online the other night - I smirked some, and I did giggle a bit but I haven't laughed. Stress has been getting to me so much I'm forgetting the good things in my life, and I'm not laughing. I also noticed that the kids are laughing as much either. They are under the stress too. I need to work on that. It's not their fault I'm a screw up. I need to laugh with them more. But I will admit - Btezra's photo of the ice hockey player.. I did laugh. I really did.

Christmas Present

Oh Oh OH OH OH OH!!!!!! See??? See My Christmas Present??? Right Here!

That's my sister, with her daughter, visiting her husband in Greece, (she lives in Italy right now - I know.. such the life) ANYWAY! She sent me this photo - and in the blue bag she's holding between her knees (ewwww.. and I thought it was some kind of new birth control when she asked me did I know what it was) is my Christmas Present! She always sends me the coolest gifts. I know she has out done herself again this year.. I can't wait. So tell me... what do you think it is???
instant messaging

I love IM - how often do you get to say you talked to your sister in Italy and not have to pay for it???
behind

I'm behind in things, like my positive posts, and general up keep. I'm still not back in the positive mood yet, so I can't find anything nice to write about. I feel like I'm numb. I know I should post something positive, but saying something like - I'm glad the sky is blue (we would be grasping at this point and it's about to snow.. so saying the sky is blue is a lie) is just too much to ask. Food is good right now. Must be in a stress moment now. Food is so good. Really really good. IHOP is really good too. :)

I'm at work and having fun. Tons of new projects and working on the site that got me in the door is still a favorite of mine.

I'm going to do a shameless plug here - I'm drumming up some business and so just to have you take a look, I'm throwing a teaser in - visit my shopping site and register for the sweepstakes and if you do find some goodies for yourself, your spouse or a family member, drop me a line from the site and I'll give you 10% off your order. I do the shipping and the pretty wrapping, you just click and order. :) Send this link to some of your friends, and tell them to mention you and I'll give them the same discount and you an extra 5% for the referral. :) Even if you don't like the pink stuff.. I can make your holiday shopping easier. Let me know - - -. If you want me to contact your spouse with your wish list (from my site, not amazon!) e-mail me your Santa's name and gift ideas and a phone number to reach Santa and I'll see what I can do. Make sure you have been good all this year. :) You never know.. one click shopping could be your new best friend!
